Facial slimming / Bruxism/ Grinding

Bruxism

Bruxism is the habit of clenching, gnashing or grinding your teeth. Your teeth are not meant to be clenched and in contact all the time. They should only briefly touch each other when you swallow or chew. If they are in contact too often or too forcefully, it can wear down the tooth enamel.

TMJ dysfunction
TMJ dysfunction

Patients are often referred with issues such as nightime tooth grinding, TMJ pain and wearing down of the teeth due to this as well as headaches.

Their masseters muscles are often overdeveloped due to this and in this case, 25 units of anti wrinkle treatment to each side of the jaw, into the masseter muscle, can help with this problem; as a side effect, it can also slim the face for patients, giving a less boxy look.

I had 50 units of anti wrinkle treatment to my masseters to help with TMJ dysfunction and bruxing with the side effect of a slimmer face!
